Flag Raising in Celebration of Language Day: A Cultural and Educational Day

As part of the celebration of Language Day, our educational institution carried out an emotional flag raising accompanied by artistic and cultural presentations that highlighted the richness of Spanish and Colombian diversity. The event, organized by teachers Óscar León and Andrea Arévalo, had the active participation of students from different grades, who delighted the educational community with their talents.


Language Day Presentations

  1. Grade 702: Poem by Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra, one of the main representatives of the Spanish language. by - Juan Sebastián Ortiz

  2. Grade 5: Poem Recital "Vencidos". The youngest, fifth graders, shared a beautiful poem dedicated to Spanish, highlighting its beauty and its role in uniting Spanish-speaking peoples. Their enthusiasm and dedication thrilled the audience.

  3. 601st Grade: "Emojimania" Dance 601 students surprised everyone with a fun and modern dance titled "Emojimania," an energetic choreography that fused the universal language of emojis with urban rhythm.

  4. Grade 602: Theater Play "The Follies of Don Quixote of La Mancha" The 602 students presented a play that highlighted the importance of language and communication in society, with a performance of the text "Don Quixote de la Mancha" by Miguel de Cervantes

  5. 7th grade: Folkloric Dance "Soy Negro". The 701st grade surprised with a vibrant dance that represented one of the traditional rhythms of Colombia, of the Pacific zone. This performance not only celebrated the language, but also the cultural identity of the country.

  6. Grade 901: "Mythical Dance of the Amazon Region": Colombian myths are symbols of identity and oral tradition. They represent the legacy of our ancestors and the way in which they, at the time, explained the origin of everything that exists.

  7. Presentation: "The Regions of Colombia". A group of students made a presentation on the different regions of Colombia, showing how the Spanish language is enriched with the accents, sayings and traditions of each area. The presentation included maps, photographs and stories that highlighted the country's linguistic diversity.

  8. Discussion Rounds: "The Use of the Cell Phone in the Educational Environment": As part of the academic and formative activities of our school, grades 9, 10 and 11 participated in a structured debate on a topic of great relevance today:

    "Should the use of cell phones be allowed in the educational establishment?"

    Structure of the Debate:

    • Teams by grade, representing positions for and against.

    • Moderators: Laura Sofía Blandón from grade 11 and Edy Santiago Martínez from grade 10.

    • Argumentation rounds: Timed interventions, replies and counterarguments.

Conclusion: The activity, organized by the Language area, demonstrated that students are prepared to discuss complex topics with maturity.


Professors Óscar León and Andrea Arévalo, organizers of the event, highlighted the importance of promoting love for the Spanish language and praised the effort of the students. The day ended with the singing of the national anthem and a message of reflection on the legacy of Miguel de Cervantes and the responsibility of preserving our language.



This raising of the flag was not only a protocol act, but a true celebration of culture, art and identity, reminding us that Spanish is more than a language: it is a bridge that connects us with our history and our people.
